The work

Rotted wood is a water problem first and a carpentry problem second. We cut out the rot, look for where the water is getting in, rebuild with new wood and prime and paint the repair so it stays sealed.

What the work covers

  • Window sill and casing repair
  • Epoxy and wood fillers where suitable
  • Replacement sections milled to match
  • Priming and painting after repair

Process

  1. 1

    Probe the damage

We test the wood to see how far the rot goes.

  2. 2

    Cut it out

Soft wood is removed back to solid material.

  3. 3

    Rebuild or replace

Repaired with filler or new wood shaped to match the original.

  4. 4

    Seal and paint

Primed on every face and painted so moisture stays out.

Estimate

We do not quote from a photo or a price list. We look at the work, then write up the estimate. These are the things that move it.

  • Extent of rot
  • Access and height
  • Repair versus full replacement
  • Profile that needs matching
  • Painting included or not

FAQ

Can rotted wood be repaired or does it need replacing?

Small areas can be repaired with fillers. Larger areas or structural pieces are replaced. We tell you which applies.

Why does wood rot under paint?

Water gets in through failed caulk or bare edges and stays trapped. Fixing the entry point is as important as replacing the wood.

Do you handle the painting afterwards?

Yes, so repair and finish stay one job.
